About Claudia Villatoro
Claudia Villatoro was born in Guatemala and emigrated legally to the United States in 1994 in pursuit of the American Dream. Her journey began at D&B Glass, where she gained invaluable hands-on experience in a demanding industry. With determination, faith, and a relentless work ethic, Claudia transitioned from employee to entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurial Leadership
In 2002, Claudia launched her first business, Sky Glass and Tint, which paved the way for the successful openings of Academy Glass and Tint and Golden Gate Glass. Through vision and leadership, she established these ventures as trusted names in both commercial and residential glass services.
Following the events of 9/11, Claudia secured a critical federal contract with White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, where her company conducted specialized glass testing for federal buildings. As one of the few woman-led businesses to achieve this, she broke barriers and was named Business Woman of the Year in 2003.
Expanding Horizons
In 2009, Claudia joined the Chicago Board of Trade, serving both national and international clients. This chapter deepened her belief in the United States as a land of opportunity, where hard work and determination make anything possible.
At the same time, Claudia remained deeply connected to her roots. She became a passionate advocate for Guatemalan expatriates, working tirelessly to secure voting rights for citizens abroad. Her efforts contributed to the 2015 approval of absentee voting by Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales.
Her leadership and dedication earned her the title of Ambassador of Peace in 2010, recognizing her work in promoting unity, justice, and diplomacy across the Americas. In addition, Claudia has served as a respected voice in the Guatemalan press, using her platform to expose injustices and champion transparency.
Humanitarian Impact
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Claudia founded Villatoro’s Global Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating child trafficking, malnutrition, and the lack of access to clean water in underserved communities.
In 2024, Claudia visited the U.S.–Mexico border to witness firsthand the humanitarian and security crisis. That same year, she entered public service as a candidate for City Commissioner of Hollywood, Florida, running on a platform of public safety, economic development, and sustainable leadership.
